Heidarvatn welcomes groups of anglers, adventurers and families. Both the Riverside Lodge and Lakeside Cabin are simple and comfortable, providing warm, shared spaces for meals and socializing as well as privacy when needed.
Riverside Lodge

The Riverside Lodge is situated along the upper reach of River Vatnsa, near the outlet of Lake Heidarvatn, with easy access to both fishing venues. This incredibly scenic and convenient location makes the Lodge ideal for groups of anglers interested in fishing both the river and the lake during their stay.
Built in the 1980’s and completely renovated in 2022, the Riverside Lodge consists of two large suites with Queen beds (one can also be split into two single beds) and private bathrooms, plus three small bedrooms with a shared bathroom. A large, open living room with panoramic views of Lake Heidarvatn and the River Vatnsa plus wood-burning stove creates the perfect atmosphere for anglers to relax and recount fish tales after long days on the water. Connected to the living room is a modern kitchen for those who are inspired to cook, and a dining area with a community dining table with seating for up to 10.
Minimalist and modern, the Lodge has a separate, heated gear room for wet waders and boots, with room for rods and fishing packs, and outside is a deck complete with a grill. A laundry room is available for guests’ use as well. The Lodge has WiFi and all electrical outlets are European-sized.
Lakeside Cabin

Set back from Lake Heidarvatn, with a stunning view of the Heidar Valley, the Lakeside Cabin welcomes families, anglers, and outdoor-adventurers alike. With its 2024 renovation, the Cabin is an updated and comfortable four-bedroom, four-bathroom getaway, and a perfect homebase for exploring southern Iceland and fishing Lake Heidarvatn.
Inside the cabin are three Queen bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and a fourth, smaller bedroom with shared bathroom. A spacious and open living room is connected to the dining room which has a small island with stool seating and a large, community dining table with seating for up to 10. Nearby, a modern kitchen is fully-equipped for self-catering groups.
Outside of the Cabin is the deck with a grill and entering the Cabin is a mud room that collects wet layers, fishing packs, and outdoor gear. Laundry is also available at the cabin for guests. The Cabin has WiFi and all electrical outlets are European-sized.
