What to Bring
Packing for a trip to Heidarvatn isn’t much different than any other northern hemisphere outdoor adventure but there are a few unique considerations to take into account. The weather in Iceland is extremely variable and over the course of a single day, there may be bright sun, precipitation, wind, and moments of calm. Daytime temperatures are relatively consistent during the fishing season and range from 35 to 60 degrees F. For these reasons, it’s imperative to pack plenty of layers and dependable rainwear.
Below is a general packing list. Note that any clothing or footwear that comes in contact with Icelandic waters must be disinfected prior to use, to ensure invasive species aren’t carried. Heidarvatn has a disinfection station available for guests on-site.
